HOUSTON- Several people were left homeless Wednesday night after a fire damaged a whole apartment building in North Houston.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m., as the Houston Fire Department responded to a fire at the Siena Courtyards Apartment Homes located at 13503 Northborough Dr.

When officials arrived, they were hit with smoke and saw several units engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly contained the fire and put it out before it spread to another building.

After further investigation, District Chief said there was no one hurt and they checked out two residents and a firefighter out of precaution -- but they were released from the scene.

However, the residents who were feeling the most "pain" were the ones that were displaced, as Corso said an entire building was destroyed and Red Cross will be assisting them.

It's unknown what caused the fire.
